When Jesus comes darkness has to flee.

This week I spoke with an 88-year-old friend who was crying, painfully remembering her abusive childhood in her father’s house. She dearly needed the peace of God for the healing of her wounds. I knew my words didn’t make a lot of sense to her on that moment, but I knew I was preparing the way for the good news of Jesus.

Listen for His voice

John was sent to prepare the way. (Mark 1:1-2) His voice was heard as a lonely voice coming from the wilderness, – from far away. Not from civilization. Not from the radio and the popular songs but from a faraway place. He was bringing a message that was not yet heard and not really well received. Mark calls Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. The name Jesus means redeemer. The Messiah means the anointed one.

Jesus is Coming

John was proclaiming the Messiah! He was saying: “Jesus is coming. Prepare yourself! Be ready for him.” Today, we hear the same call. “Prepare for Jesus.” He is coming to your heart. Make way! Open your heart. Let Jesus in. He is the anointed one. When he comes darkness has to flee.

A New Beginning

There is repentance in Christ and there is forgiveness. There is healing in Jesus. A new beginning. A life, full of grace.

Today come to him. Head the voice calling you from the far away place. Not the noise. Not the popular voices. But the one calling you to leave behind idols, materialism, comfort, culture and focusing on His plans for your life.

Jesus loves you.
